On this episode of Game the System podcast, Marc Matt and John talk a boat load of pinball! Including impressions of the brand new Munsters pinball machine from Stern, the news that 1989 Arcade Bar is getting three pinball machines, Link's Awakening remake (not a pinball machine), a new Australian number 1 ranked pinball player, and EVO Japan 2019 (also not pinball)!

Standard Stern construction! (Proudly made in the USA) - can’t tighten screws. Lock gate fell off in Aerosmith 1st week, switch fell off under moving ramp in Iron Maide because BOTH screws fell out (& the screw at the bottom of the ramp mech was coming undone) etc etc...

And Sterns can get confused even when all balls are available!

In the case of Star Trek Next Gen it tries to preload a ball under each canon and there can be numerous reasons that can fail and cause repeated cycling of balls.

I like Monster Bash. If you play in the spirit of the game it has you shooting all around the table and collecting monsters, hopefully as many at the same time as a multiball as possible. If you simply play a short run tournament point reaming strategy of repetition up the middle (Move Your Car’) it’s likely to be boring.

(Oh, and the surefire way to tell if you’re allergic to semen is if all the hair on the palm of your hand falls out!)

Some interesting things can be done in the space of a mini-playfield if you properly make it mini. Reboot Stewie/Donkey pinball from Family Guy/Shrek!

Stern always release the Pro well ahead of the LE (the gap seems to be getting larger), so I don’t think Mr Reid and Co needed to do anything tricky to already have Munsters. It’s also possible there might be less Pros and more Premiums sold for this machine because of the distinctive B&W styling of the Premium.
Since the Spike System came in, local support is MORE important because they’re constantly blowing the logic on their node boards which requires a replacement of the board and they insist on getting the dead one back (maybe Stern repair them and reship [I’ve seen modified revision numbers on those boards!]). Mind you, AMD don’t have any at the moment - they reordered in November!

More Munsters news: barring unforeseen circumstances, Zball’s Munsters LE #13 will be in the Newtown hotel late Tuesday afternoon.

I’m hoping people remember that once upon a time the “#” would be used to mean “number” (I’m not saying “hashtag 13” above). One good thing about the advent of the hashtag is that Americans have to admit how horrendously wrong they were for so many years referring to the “#” on phone keypads as the “pound sign”. Of course they’ve got a LOT of things wrong for a long time:
It’s “aluminium” not “aluminum”
It’s “caramel” not “carmel”
0AE911FC-BA8A-452B-A80E-54E391AB222E.jpegThat thing is not a “biscuit”

9167BE83-6CE4-403E-9F03-16D8B9747986.jpeg
And that thing’s name is pronounced “boy” not “booee” because its primary ability is to be buoyant!
(& don’t get me started on what a “fanny” is [it’s not an “ass” {which is not an “arse”!}] - sorry, no pictures)
Etc, etc, etc...

(Anyway, Munsters, Newtown, Tuesday... [message ends])
